The Marvellous @Kevin Jump has started working on usync for V14 , what about you other package developers .. are you waiting for a more stable release? are you waiting for Kevin ? are you waiting for more documentation? or you dont have the time now to think about migrating to v 14 ? any other comments or answers.. and yes i could have made it a poll but i think a long drawn out thread may give us more insights..

dont have the time now to think about migrating to v 14
r
what would force you ?
h
TBH I probably won't, would prefer to stick to LTS versions unless absolutely necessary
Getting version swamped 🤣
k
yes - version swamped is a thing - We seriously considered not doing all that new usync stuff for v13 but it would have made the gap even smaller, so we released it early. What i didn't want to do was abandon v10-13 just because 14 was coming, esp as v13 will be around for 3 years - but equally the impending doom of v14 was worring me. So thats why i've had a look. i haven't actually gotten to the code yet (mainly setup builds, adding menus etc in the new
umbraco-package.json
file. So i might 'stop' when it gets hard, and something else pops up. but i've always said (espeically to anyone in the core team who would listen) - I am in a fortunate postion as this is my job, if i had other stuff to do , i doubt i would be looking now.
h
Yes, it isn't my Job so have to try and fit it in somehow (this may change as I have just resigned 🤣)
k
Just drop that in 🙂, "oh yeah and I quit"

oh..

Will probably be looking for contract work in the future. 😄 It was a very difficult decision to leave as I actually really like my job, however due to my health I need to spend more time at our apartment in Spain (especially during the winter) and my employer won't allow me to do so.

I've started a branch for Contentment, with some basics (pretty much same as Kevin did in his first dev.to post, v14/.NET8 compat). I'll be updating my progress here: https://github.com/leekelleher/umbraco-contentment/issues/316 (I thought about a blog series, but felt that was even more extra effort - not sure there's enough hours in the day! 😅 )
