Does anyone here happen to have a good example of an Umbraco built site that has a good search integration? Perhaps something you've built and you're proud of? We're curious for the reason of showing a potential client what can be achieved, to serve as an example.

Anything in particular you're looking for?

I wish I could show you what I'm currently working on. It's the most elaborate search feature I've ever made, but for now it's strictly confidential. It uses facetted search to show the amount of results for each filter. It also uses a naïve taxonomy feature to connect words and phrases to different pieces of content. The taxonomy understands relations such as synonyms and spelling errors so after a search it could give you suggestions such as: "Did you mean to search for X?" and "The word Y might give you more relevant results".

Spelling errors (and possibly also synonyms) can be archived in a few different ways. One is using Hunspell dictionaries, which I wrote a bit about here: https://skrift.io/issues/making-searches-more-friendly-with-hunspell-dictionaries/

Oh, I never heard of that, I'mma give that a read

I can sometimes be a bit of a rabbit hole to go down, but it can also be very useful for handling both spelling errors and multiple variations of a given word.
Not related to Hunspell, but earlier this year, we launched a new website for VIVE, which has a ton of publications and other data. The site has a number of advanced searches - eg. for publications: https://www.vive.dk/da/udgivelser/ https://www.vive.dk/en/publications/ The site has more than 8k publications. There are no faceted filters, but still fairly complex under the hood. The same search logic is also used to show related content.

Many thanks guys! I had not heard of hunspell either, so thanks for that one as well.

@User May I suggest “all” instead of "guys"? We use gender inclusive language in this Discord. 😀
