I would love to hear from anyone that has given UmBootstrap a try. Did you find it easy to use / useful? Have you used it to create a site?
h
I've not used it in anger, but my first impressions were it was very easy to use and will definitely look at using it somewhere.
d
Fantastic - Please let me know if you have any questions
h
Had a good play with it this afternoon 😄 very nice, no questions so far but may have some small suggestions 😉
d
Cool - I have replied on the colour issue I realised Area colours are a bit hidden away so may move them to a tab
h
I also added an alt Text field for the image feature component and template to stop lighthouse whining about no alt tags 🤣
d
Yes - we have work to do on images but all of our sites get 4 x 100 or near Please feel free to pr or send issues
h
I'm loving it so far, very easy to use and just as easy to tweak/extend it where needed 😁
d
That was my intention. I wasn't planning to but I'm building a couple of low cost sites due clients with it. I don't feel great with some of the Bootstrap stuff, I usually write my own scss/css but I think people who use Bootstrap correctly and can write scss will like it a lot.

I stuck a copy of what I've been playing with on my web server https://umbootstrap.themediawizards.co.uk/

Wow @huwred - that's amazing. Glad to see we have Classic ASP in common, we are still maintaining 20 year old sites! Also would be interested in Dynamics stuff which we use to run our entire business. But extremely happy to see how easily you have converted UmBootstrap into a live site.
h
We use Umbraco to build front end portals for our Dynamics customers some also use them as their CMS, but for the majority of our clients it is just a portal that integrates with Dynamics (online and on-premise instances) so lots of custom controllers and views, Membership is linked to contact records in Dynamics. The template was very easy to get started with, I have been playing with block grid for a while so have a decent understanding of how it all works, so that probably helped 🙂 It was also very simple to customize and extend it to do what I wanted. I am currently working on getting my custom form block controls to play nicely with it (basically a block grid containing a block list of form controls to render, allowing you to build reasonably complex forms)
d
Sounds ideal for local authority and corporate clients. Dynamics is slowly improving (emphasis on slowly) but tight integration with Umbraco is a very marketable service
h
Got my form control working 😄
It has a block list behind it where you add the form controls
d
Nice. I have a form in the next release but not any captcha stuff
h
I had another play lastnight and I now have the form working in purely griditems so no more blocklist needed so the form can now go anywhere in the contentGrid (it has a special Form Layout which only allows the form controls to be loaded
d
I see a Form Builder package in the making 🙂
h
Hopefully, just figuring out how to package it up 😄
