Yay, finally get to ditch Virgin

Yay, finally get to ditch Virgin broadband 😄 having Youfibre fitted on Friday, < half the price of Virgins crappy broadband
a
"UNFORTUNATELY, YOUFIBRE IS NOT YET AVAILABLE IN YOUR AREA" - shame 😒 Been looking for an excuse to ditch VM, unfortunately no other provider as far as I can tell can come close to the speeds I'm getting
m
one day Ill be able to do that....
City fibre has been difgging up nearly every street in my area... but not mine 😄
for cityFibre 😄
h
yes, shame. I have been waiting for a long time too. YouFibre also give you a synchronous connection so 500 up and down for half what I was paying for 350/30!
and constantly giving me a yoyo connection
a
The yoyo connection is the primary reason behind my frustration. Just checked City Fibre though, and it appears it's available in my area. Will have to look into this further later as my virgin contract ends early next year
Ok, curiosity got the better of me and couldn't wait haha. Vodafone, 910mbps (455 guaranteed), £29 per month 😲
m
mine just ended 😦 $$$$$ now
a
Threaten to leave, they usually offer a discounted rate. Now is probably the best of times given its Black Friday and new customers are being offered the same package for much less. Each year we've been with them I've said I just want Broadband, but yet its been cheaper to get TV, Broadband & Phone for less. Currently paying for TV and the box has been at the bottom of the wardrobe for at least 3 years now.

I have Sky and BT and hopefully Lightspeed next Friday. BT can ** off with their 2 year contracts, Sky have been decent but neither have 1gb yet. Can't wait.

A company called Ogi have been creating their own fibre network here in Wales (FTTP). Signed up about 2 months ago, now I get 900 down instead of 60, and just over 90 up! 🥳
h
I really don't understand why these companies throttle your upload speed, it's just a rip off!
w
Yeh as I live about 5-10mins away from Dean got LightSpeed and 900-1gb Up & Down. Been enjoying it

I switched to Plusnet recently and get 550Mbps for £34.99 a month which I'm happy with.
