Hello everybody. I have just chatted with a company about a migration from Wordpress and WooCommerce. It seems there is no real need for WooCommerce to be in the site as they don't sell anything online, it's just a product catalogue so could be handled easily with standard Umbraco doctypes. They will need the site rebuilding in Umbraco and also the front-end totally rebuilding. They may need some design too but they can sort that out. Anyway, they don't have the sorts of budgets that we'd need to do the project so I suggested a contractor or 2 would be better for them instead of an agency. The initial email was as follows:- *Hi we're doing an initial discovery into options. The site is currently on Wordpress with WooCommerce and is using the Avada theme. Despite working with an SEO company we're seeing a slip in ranking positions to other sites with less quantity and quality of content. So we can only put this down to the heavyweight theme in WordPress. We've been experiencing some friction with the lack of customisation in Wordpress and Woocommerce as well so are exploring the options of moving to Umbraco. We're looking for a company to handle this migration for us so that it can be done faster than if we tasked it in house. I have a .NET development background so I'm quite familiar with ASP.Net Core etc. and Umbraco feels like it could be a good fit.* My guess is that they have about £20 - £30k all in, you could maybe squeeze a bit more out of them.
