Jury Service

Yes... but unfortunately I'm starting the new year with Jury Service so won't get to apply said motivation.

I did jury service a couple of years ago, (coincidently in January too). I found it all fascinating. Lots of waiting around though. I was lucky with the case I got, was a non-violent drugs bust. Fingers crossed that you don't get a heavy case... although I'm told that tax fraud cases are the ones to avoid; boring and can go on for ages. 😬

I highly suggest a switch/DS. I had one case Id rather forget and the other was fine. Good luck

Here's hoping it's not too mad. Fortunately my ADHD has me well trained for boredom avoidance! I have a Retroid Pocket, laptop, tablet, headphones, power bank and a copy of Wired in my bag.

Are you allowed connectivity at all? I know only things from what I see on TV in America, I guess you have to promise not to google the specific case, but unless it's high profile you wouldn't need to go fully offline right?
l
when I did it, you could use internet in the waiting room/area (obviously nothing noisy), so I did bits of work on my laptop from there... but you had to be immediately ready to go when they call you (I'd seen a couple of people getting told off for delaying things).
j
Yeah, we have WiFi in the waiting area. Pretty fast too.
l
Well thank you for doing your civic duty Jason! Not that you really get a choice!

One of the advantages (maybe the only advantage) of working for the Court Service all those years ago - I was on the "don't contact" list 😄
