So I was reminded today that Umbraco 8 is done. We're in the security phase now, so any new releases will only be for security issues for the next year and then it's over. It feels like we only just released 9 though! ๐Ÿ˜… How do you feel about v8 being done? ๐Ÿงต
Personally, I wouldn't want to go back to building on v8, but I know a lot of people are still in the v7 migration process. Hopefully they haven't stopped at v8. Will there be another year of handwringing blog posts of people trying to move just in time before EOL? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Wow that's mad! I guess after most sites are on 9+ the smaller time between major releases will feel less like a bit deal! Until 14 maybe ๐Ÿ˜‰

Feels weird, but also liberating that I can tell myself not to worry about new Contentment features for v8. ๐Ÿ˜…

The sooner we can get rid of .Net Framework support the better! ๐Ÿ™‚ If only the lack of official support meant clients not using it as well..

Good riddance. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ™ˆ Would rather support 7. Multilingual & built in di-container was it's only contribution forward. There were more tight coupling than v7. Hope I'm not in breach of conduct by saying anymore. ๐Ÿ˜‡
(9+ however have been awesome. don't get me wrong. ๐Ÿ˜)

agreed with @Jemayn !! I Always cringe abit when i have to get my clients umbraco 8 solutions running. โค๏ธ .Net (Core)
s
๐Ÿ˜‚ well, it was sure more fun to work with IMO, I've never done any unit testing ๐Ÿ˜‰
I'm very excited to leave .NET Framework behind too, but a lot of my knowledge is now legacy, boo! I wish I could erase it from my brain and make room for something more useful ๐Ÿ˜›
Also just saw there's a new telemetry report: https://docs.umbraco.com/sustainability-best-practices/telemetry/2024-02-telemetry 45% of reporting sites are still running v8. 32% is on an LTS version (yay!).

See comment about CustomControl the other day. ๐Ÿ˜
