Block Grid: Restrict use of blocks at root like areas
w
So a quick one. Is there a way in the UI for Block Grid to restrict the usage of a block used at the root? So a block can only be inserted once at the root, as you can configure in areas. I can't easily move to areas now due to existing content already been published. Love any thoughts or suggestions please 🙂
I know your super busy @Niels Lyngsø but as original mastermind and lead dev on this feature. Wonder if you might know or be able to shed some light on this ?

Yeah, I understand, thats not in the design/features currently, but it could easily be added. Like in source code.
I guess a custom view, always could be hinting some kind of validation?
like checking if it exists and how many items, and then show a red box above it saying too many of this type...
that would jus tbe a guide, not a blockker..
well, unless you hide a property with some obscure validation behind that the custom view changes from good to bad... I guess you could hook into the vlaidation system if you are really smart.
Sorry, that was just a few fast thoughts .I assume you get the point, it could be hacked, but yes its not a feature, and I would not say you can make it so without manipulating the source code.

Appreciate the thoughts mate.

Not a good solution - but one that might be "good enough". Could you just check on a publish event editor hasn't broken your rule and warn / refuse a publish?

Yeh for now that may be the route to go without a big restructure of the data.
