How was everyones weekend?
c
Pretty good actually! Built a brand new PC for a mate of mine this weekend, and we had some gorgeous weather so decided to light up the ol' BBQ! 🔥 How about yourself Owain? 🙂
a
Morning! Another busy & exhausting weekend moving house and sorting things out. Looking forward to having a proper life again haha
o
A busy weekend for me too. Some DIY, some runnings, some bouldering, cut the grass for the first time this year but still not warm enough for th BBQ 😄
m
Its always warm enough for a BBQ! Car was in for its MOT so walked into town for breakfast and then the car needs new tyres so no car till tomorrow now...
Was a lovely sunny day on Saturday at least
o
The 50mph winds also didn't help a BBQ 😄
m
just get the blowing just right to flame the coals 😄 and a blow torch to light it 😄

No BBQs for me though it was certainly the weather for it on Saturday! Spent a lot of the weekend on home DIY though, automating all the things. Only a few more lamps are not yet connected to a Shelly now.. Hopefully I can do the final ones this evening. Always scary pretending that I'm an electrician... ⚡ didn't zap myself, nor did I fry anything though!
Ikea's smart line is expanding with really affordable, really good stuff by the way. All of it supports Zigbee, so everything connects in seconds to my Home Assistant, love it!
Slowly phasing out all the cheap TP-Link and other crappy things that need an app and a cloud account for no reason other than tracking you.
c
That's one of the things I still need to hook! Got a couple of IKEA Tradfri bulbs around the house, but still need to get a Zigbee dongle for my Pi that's running Home Assistant. I'll take this as my reminder to finally get one haha
s
Haha! I forgot it requires an extra dongle, I got the https://phoscon.de/en/conbee2 a few years ago and it's been great. Ikea just started stocking these smart plugs which are MUCH nicer then their old ones: https://www.ikea.com/dk/da/p/tretakt-stikprop-smart-80540349/

I bought in to the Philips Hue ecosystem and as much as I love it all, it's sooo expensive! 😄
c
Very nice, thanks for sharing! For smart plugs I'm using the ones from the good ol' cheap Dutch store Action (Which are basically rebranded Tuya plugs), which with some tweaking also work without a Cloud connection and just a local network connection!
h
Lots of clearing out junk from the house 😄
s
Yeah I have a total mishmash of things, two Hues, they're good but indeed way too expensive. Wiz used to be Philips' cheap brand but I believe they've been sold off now, so not sure about the quality from now on.
Haha yeah I have a few Tuya's and they've been fine, but cloud-bound. Took me a whole Saturday a few months ago to flash new firmware on them to make them local-only, now they're perfect!
