Macbook purchase advice. I'm planning on buying a Macbook Pro M3 model, primarily for backend development with Rider. My aging Windows laptop is struggling with 16GB RAM and can't be upgraded. Should I got for 16GB on the Macbook or go for 24GB. 16GB I can get tomorrow, but 24GB is a 2 week wait. I don't want to get a year down the lien and regret not waiting. What does everyone that uses a Macbook have??

I'm a complete outlier as running an M3 Max with 128GB which is overkill. We bought a couple of the M3 16GB models at work and they seem to be more than capable, I doubt you'd regret it a year or even three down the line.

I've got an M1 with 32 GB, and I think even that could work with 16 GB. I have from time to time been happy with the 32 GB for Docker + other VM stuff, though.

I've decided to push the boat out and go with the M3 Pro processor, 1TB SSD and 36GB ram. That should do me until I retire 🙂
