As an author of another open source project unrelated to Umbraco I have been granted a free resharper all products license. I am a long time user of visual studio but was wondering if changing over to rider was worth it or not?

oh gosh - people are very passionate about this one 😉

I know alot of people in the community have, There is always trade offs though, I think its great but I couldnt get past how it did nuget consolidation compared to Visual studio, working with legacy projects this is such a common issue I found I kept missing it 😦

Think I'll just give it a try and see how I get on 🤣

I definitely prefer VS for legacy .NET Framework projects that I'm still having to dip into from time to time. Full time mac user but finding my need to boot into a VM for that is, thankfully, not as often as it used to be. Use Rider for pretty much everything else. If you've got a free license, go ahead and try it out. You can also select VS key bindings so no need to stress the muscle memory!

Guess I'm a VS guy, uninstalled it, hated the look and feel of it right from the start

I was a VS guy
Loving Rider

YMM most definitely V, but I’ve switched to Rider and never looked back. Well worth it.

Rider all the way. In fact I have Jetbrains full toolkit. There's some really nice stuff in Rider for DB and Git management as well. Also love the Debug experience.
