To properly past from word or google docs and keep all formating and links and such you have to buy the TinyMCE Power Paste plugin

Yes it seems the later versions of TinyMCE have actually downgraded some functionality. An annoying powerplay to make some cash I guess.

It is especially cause it is subscription based and power paste is in there higher tear at like 135/m if paid for a whole year. Makes small startups like me really screwed

It wouldn't be impossible to build your own rich text editor datatype with CKEditor or similar I guess. You wouldn't have hte macro / Umbraco specific plugins. I have large client that only uses markdown editors. Not sure why this was done in the first place but it works pretty well. We have a custom markdown generator code that injects classes to the various tags to style
