Hey everyone, Im a non tech and i do testing and im also a web editor but i want to contribute to the community. I’ve tried working on documentation, but it seems to require more technical knowledge than I currently have. Since I’m not sure where to start or how best to help, I would love some guidance on beginner-friendly ways I can contribute. 😺

By far not the only option, but since you say you're non-tech, maybe you'd like to challenge yourself a bit? Umbraco 14 desperatly needs more testing, as it still has quite a few bugs to work out, but it -does- require a bit of technical knowhow to spin up Umbraco get it to a testable state, especially for the content-editor parts. Are you familiar with this part, or interested in learning that? Because it more testing and creating issues on Github with found bugs and issues seems like a good fit for a tester. Happy to help get you up and running if that sounds like venue you'd like to explore

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! I'm from Usome, and we actually have Umbraco V14 up and running. I've had some experience with it too, and we allocate time for testing. I would definitely be interested in exploring the testing side further, especially reporting bugs and issues on GitHub. 😊

I'd say taking Umbraco 14.3-rc for a spin and reporting on findings like this one https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/issues/17135 are super valuable right now. As I see Umbraco 14, big picture stuff is done or close to done, but there are tons of nitty-gritty things that doesn't work, doesn't work as expected or needs polish. With "hacktober" coming up for Umbraco, I'd say more issues like the one above brought to daylight would be a very valuable contribution.
But maybe @Sebastiaan has better ideas? 🙂

v15RC is coming out next week 😇 that's where Hacktoberfest is turning it's focus to
I know it's harder if you're not technical, but we have some Low-code / no-code inspiration ready here: https://docs.umbraco.com/contributing/hacktoberfest-2024/contributing Note: contributions only count for Hacktoberfest when done in the month of October, so wait a few more days to send results if you want to try to earn some rewards 😅

Thanks @Sebastiaan I’ve joined Hacktoberfest and am excited to get started in oct. Appreciate the info on v15RC and the low-code/no-code inspiration. Looking forward to contributing! 😇 Off-topic: Do you know if there's a demo or test license available for Umbraco Commerce and Forms that can be set up on our test domain?
