Hello Umbracians! 👋 We've just published a blog post about moving the old Our Umbraco forum to a new home. This will have some impact on how we run the Discord as well. https://community.umbraco.com/the-community-blog/the-umbraco-forum-is-moving/ First of all: we LOVE your activity here on Discord, it's been a great joy to see people helping each other out with the Umbraco-related problems but also to socialize with you, celebrate our daily Wordle scores and game together. At the moment we have about 1200 people who are regularly active here on Discord and we're proud of you all building a great community here. At the same time we also have been painfully aware that the #1125392773038755890 channel and it's content are very difficult to find and join in on. Yes, 1200 of you have found your way here, but there are many more people who don't find this place in search engines and when they do, they land on https://discord-chats.umbraco.com/ and from there it is hard to figure out how to join the conversation. So over the next few weeks we'll be transitioning the Q&A part of this Discord server to the new forum at https://forum.umbraco.com and eventually the #1125392773038755890 channel will be turned into a read-only channel. As for the future of Discord, we are going to focus more on the social elements here and will be organizing events (UmbraCollab and more) and facilitating real-time collaboration, for example during the Umbraco Spark hackathons (see #1343511392430325810). At DUUG this year, I talked about the forum and Discord with Emma. I used to be on the forum but not Discord. But I've switched entirely to Discord (don't tell Emma!) because it's so much easier to ask and chat here. Also, because I'm running Discord I get notifications all the time. I agree with the issues though. It's hard to find anything (even my own post sometimes) and users are split between the forum and Discord. So in the long run, if you want a well documented and easily searchable knowledge base, Discord is not the place. If I get notifications when new things are added (which the #1344266000241135677 is supposed to do, like the #882963797021716531 channel?) than I think this is a good idea 🙂

Gotcha! I am excited for the new forum features, especially the ones where you can watch anything that has your interest (or just absolutely anything) and get browser notifications. Just wondering if active users here can get higher trust levels from the start on the new forum. It doesn't trust me all that much yet.... 😛

Imho, it would have been fine if the channel was closed/made read-only a few days after the new forum launched. It works really well, good work Sebastiaan!
