Found a refurb place in Edinburgh https://www.edinburghremakery.org.uk/shop/?sort_by=price&product_cat=1100-laptop But no idea if any of these are any good 😄

new thread here 🙂
those are not bad - but the cheaper ones have 4 cores, you really want at least a 6 core machine these days for dev work
Also I'd say intel CPUs, particularly the older ones are power hogs
Similar generation ryzen CPUs have more grunt but use less power. Modern intels are better
but also modern intels are more expensive 🙂
so depends on your budget

😄 I'm probably around the 300-400 mark, not much I know.

nah - that's plenty!
anyone who spends more than that on a laptop is doing it through a business or is nuts. personal purchases shouldn't ever be more than about 3/400
for that sort of money, I'd consider a 1440p resolution laptop (really makes a huge difference) and get a base laptop and upgrade the drive and ram yourself
or this - it's a pretty nice machine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286475715906?

I like the look of this one: https://www.edinburghremakery.org.uk/product/dell-precision-5540-uhd-touch-laptop-i7-9850h-32gb-ram-1tb-ssd-win11-pro-g/ I did an afternoon volunteering at the Remakery last year. There a very nice bunch of people, worth popping in to see them. Unfortunately I saw all their retro Apple computers and went on a bit of a spending spree (on ebay) after seeing what they had!
