🎉 First time at Umbraco Codegarden – LEVEL: EXCITED! 🌍✈️ 🛂 Visa – ✅ 🎫 Ticket – ✅ 🤯 Hotel choice – still loading… Now stuck in the ultimate boss fight: 🏨 Milling Hotel Mini 11 🏨 Milling Hotel Mini 19 🏨 Milling Hotel Plaza Just trying to pick the one where I can “accidentally” bump into like-minded business people at breakfast and turn it into a networking goldmine. 😂💻☕️ Any advice, Codegarden veterans? 👀 Help a first-timer out before I book my destiny!
m
If I remeber correctly both minis share breakfast with Asganar or at least one does 😄 So there will be plenty of people around, in any of the hotels

Plaza is slightly closer to the venue and the bridge than the other 2. I’ve not stayed at plaza but I have at a mini. I think they are similar
k
Plaza is closer and slightly nicer. As for bumbing into people, all 3 are going to be absolutely loaded up to the brim with Umbraco people.
Odeon is probably the nicest stay I've had at Codegarden, but it's pricey. Especially now I'd guess.
c
I agree I prefer Odeon too. But I don’t spend much time in the hotel to be fair.

Some of the Umbraco attendees will be obvious.. a lot of hoodies .. quite a lot of Umbraco swag… and the general air of excitement… all the hotels are easy enough to get to and from the venue and once you find a little gaggle of people from the hotel you can meet and walk and chat…and have breakfast with .. The first morning will be the hardest for this but if you come to the pre party you can meet and network … Odeon is newest and nicest but all as others have said decent , will be packed with Umbraco people .. one bit of advice Don’t be afraid to ask people .. if you can sit or to start a conversation this apply to lunch etc or hanging at /.near the bar Play a game of hammersclagen (nails log)

Not sure if i shared this before but i wrote a post for if it is your first time, things that are useful to know https://codeshare.co.uk/blog/tips-for-going-to-codegarden/

This is great! Thanks for sharing. I just booked a room at Hotel Mini19. I really appreciate how helpful this community is—not just for me, but for others as well. Now I understand why the Umbraco community is so cheerful and ahead of the rest!

@CodeSharePaul @Ketan Garala so you may not have the luck we do in Europe have of meeting people going to and from the conference, this will allow you to buddy up and wander round. I know people have met up and done thing like splitting up to cover as many talks as possible.. and then getting together to swap notes later.. Don’t try and run around and see everything.. give yourselves a break Chat to people , people try and leave space to help you interact ( the Pac-Man rule https://www.ericholscher.com/blog/2017/aug/2/pacman-rule-conferences/) you will find new friends and get direct insight..
k
I really liked the Pac-Man Rule — hadn't come across it before. Great idea! Thanks for sharing it, @Ravi.
