The UMB.FYI Effect
# social

Hey folks! 👋 UMB.FYI is coming up to its 100th issue at the end of August 🎉 Since I don’t track clicks (privacy-first and all that), I rarely get to see what kind of impact the newsletter actually has. So I thought it’d be cool to ask: Have you ever been featured in UMB.FYI and noticed a spike in traffic, stars, downloads, or general buzz? If so, I’d love to see it! Feel free to drop a screenshot, chart, or just tell me what happened.

Been featured a few times but don't really track anything, except for good vibes 😂

I think some of the moriyama stuff got numbers but I think we got more direct traffic from linked in because it’s a broader pool
Also depending on the publishing platform nandthe follow up social interactions were what really made a bigger difference
As a punter it’s more about centralised list of content which I can scan so I didn’t necessarily always follow and Lick through every thing

As a subscriber it's great keeps me informed without having to be everywhere!!

@Ravi Totally get where you’re coming from — and to be clear, I’m not claiming UMB.FYI is some kind of traffic machine or trying to compete with LinkedIn reach. What I was really hoping for was just a feel-good moment — to celebrate 100 issues by seeing a few little spikes or stories where someone felt seen. Not about numbers, just the warm fuzzies. UMB.FYI has always been about giving visibility to everyone, not just those who know how to play the marketing game or optimise their social reach. So if anyone has felt a ripple effect — even something small — I’d genuinely love to hear about it. It’s that kind of community feedback that makes the time and effort feel worth it. 💙

Usually I prefer not to know that people are looking at me 👀 #ostrich
I will check our website analytics though
1 referral from umb.fyi back in May, probably me making sure the link worked 😂 But this won't account for clicks from the email I don't think.

@Matt Brailsford I was trying to give qualitative data .. and real feedback backed by science .. On a pure personal level , while I don’t necessarily publish that much if anything I’ve been involved in even tangentially gets mentioned it’s two things 1 a set of the arm fuzzies I think there is a small bump And 2 an absolute sense of validation that the work I have done is worthwhile and so forth So that is definitely what I get and satisfies your criteria

I'll be looking for the uptick of our latest Deep Dive when UMB.FYI comes out this Wednesday!
