Basic functionality? Nope. I would say there used to be, but in the last few months, Discord has added things that Slack had - such as creating threads. Discord does allow for easy direct replies to messages without a thread, which I find very convenient in busy conversations when you want to reply to a specific person and just one comment. I would say the big difference I can think of is that you can't change your icon between different servers at the moment (but it appears they're getting ready to change that, as I got a notification this morning that I can have multiple profile pictures now, but both me and the internet can't figure out HOW so I assume they accidentally notified early woops) . The intent behind Discord is to be more multi-community focused, I think, rather than an island for each business that you're part of.
