Feature forward, bugfix backward? Hopefully backporting to v9 isn't a huge task. Also, upgrading v9 to v10 is nothing like historical migrations. It's been more trivial than most of the 8.x point releases so far 😅 (so long as you know the secret about deleting folders to make it work).
