I've recently upgraded a few solutions from Umbraco v12.0.1 to 12.2.0 and noticed that when calling the

/umbraco/delivery/api/v1/content/item

endpoint without any queries or parameters I now get an empty array instead of the root node. I couldn't find anything in the documentation stating that this was intended behaviour, so is this possibly a bug? I've tried clearing the memory and db cache, as well as rebuilding the API Index.
