Hello Umbraco Community,
I'm currently working on an international website that requires support for multiple languages. Language Variants seem like a great solution for managing translations efficiently.
To tailor content for different countries (since content will not always be the same for different countries), I'm adopting a multisite approach. Each country will have its own root node, and language variants within each country will cater to diverse language needs. We aim to follow the ISO code syntax like language-COUNTRY, such as en-US. This structure will result in URLs like www.mywebsite.com/en-US/...
For instance, the Swedish website should support Swedish, English, and Norwegian. While Swedish and English meet the criteria (sv-SE, en-SE), Norwegian poses a challenge as Umbraco's predefined languages lack the ISO code nb-SE.
My question is: Can these ISO codes be overwritten, or is there a way to add custom languages to the dropdown list in "Add language" under "Languages" in the "Settings" section? How would you suggest addressing this issue?
Best wishes, and Merry Christmas in advance!
