Does anyone know how Umbraco Cloud calculates it's checksum of Template files, particularly for Umbraco v8. When trying to deploy content we are getting a checksum difference for a template file but there are no pending changes in the cloud portal so can't "deploy".

For anyone coming across this in the future, 

To address the issue I had to re-save (via kudu) the template in question on both environments and then clear the cached signitures via the deploy dashboard on each environment.
