had pixels for years now never had an issue (outside of a car door vs phone)

I feel like that's the sensible choice - no one will do Android like Google, for obvious reasons

You also avoid the delay in patching or lack of by a 3rd party

It's not not cheap-cheap but omg I am SUPER impressed with the battery life of my OnePlus 12R. It's reasonably up-to-date (new major android versions usually about 6 months after google releases it). The camera is great, the software is a breeze. Most of all, I can go 2 full days before I need to charge it on medium use and I LOVE it.

My 2 absolute favorite features, one of which sounds silly: - Silly: the slider on the side of the phone to put the whole damned thing on mute (or vibrate or loud) - The smart sidebar - I use this ALL the time (basically, it is multi-windowing)

Don't get a pixel 6 or 7, get a pixel 8. 6 and 7 don't support video over usb C, 8 does, and you won't know how useful that it until you try it

Pixel is my go to now, I had a Pixel 5 and absolutely loved it, gave that to my Dad (still works perfectly) and got a Pixel 7 Pro now; honestly two of the best phones I've ever used! My Mum also has a Pixel 6a, which we have had issues with (stopped working for weeks, before suddenly started working again, did this like 3 times over 3 months), but so far that hasn't happened since we sent it to google for repair. Before Pixel, Huawei was my go to, loved my P10 Lite, such a shame they can't use google services anymore.

I did this when I had a bicycle accident with my phone in a holder on the bike. 😅 OnePlus supports video over USB-C and it is awesome (also need to plug in a mouse/keyboard, so you need a proper USB-C hub).
