They don't appear to work, children still listed in the tree and the collection view is completely empty.

Should work. It is expected that they are in the tree (it's a choice the frontend team made) - so that's normal. It will load the first 50 items and then have a "load more" link). But collection view should not be empty AFAIK
h
Oh, seems a bit pointless if they still appear in the tree as well, I normally use listviews for the sole purpose of not having them in the tree 🤣
s
I agree, but it's being discussed at HQ currently.. To be fair, it IS weird to hide children/descendants in the tree, the UX is not consistent and there's a "magical" reason for it that editors won't understand until they're told. On the other hand, this tree doesn't make sense either, what items are you most likely to edit? The newest 50, not the oldest 50.
Not sure why it's empty, any js errors?
h
yes, it is throwing index.js:3 Uncaught SyntaxError: "undefined" is not valid JSON
s
I think you have some invalid JSON 😂 😅

Will try recreating the collection and see if that helps
OK, just created a new 'default' collection and that works, so must be one of the fields I'm trying to display, so will try adding them one by one to see what happens. Could be a migration issue.
s
aah, got it, yeah might be one of them that doesn't work in 14.. or did you add custom name template on some fields maybe?

I was told that collections would be great for my "External Link Library" that I would like to be a dashboard like Media. Do I go back to creating a custom dashboard or is it likely it will become like List View?
