Hi all - last night @mattchick and I presented two talks around using Umbraco headless using both the Content Delivery API and Heartcore. What was quite amazing was the feedback and questions. Whilst people wre interested in HTMX and N8N most of the questions were around Umbraco. This was an audience of devs using other technologies s such as WP, Craft, Ruby-on-Rails etc… Of course many of the questions were around comparisons with WP and the 'plugin' ecosystem but these are generally easily answered. The feedback from two live demos was exceptionally positive. I feel we are currently in perfect moment in time to increase our developer base simply by talking about Umbraco.

I wonder what people think about block editor vs gutenberg? Saw an article the other day where people were still not very impressed with gutenberg.

The only thing I have been asked about is dragging and dropping blocks into areas. Because I often only allow certain blocks in certain areas I think this would be counter intuitive for the editor so am happy as it is.

@Dean Leigh have you written this up anywhere or slides from it? I'd love to find out more, I remember seeing you mention it on Bluesky

It was a live demo of the Astro repo running locally and a Content Delivery API enabled UmBootstrap hosted in an Azure Web App @Alex Meyers I have intended to write it up since last year but like many side projects it's just sat there. I will try and do something in the future perhaps but I just can't keep up with the new Umbraco stuff along with all the new CSS stuff at the same time.

Ah I see, that makes sense. I've been exploring that tech stack for upcoming projects and wondered what your setup and use case looked like. A live demo, you brave man 😂 sounds like it went very well though

Erm I have be to admit I was very disorganised, we needed a couple of talks at short notice. But the code actually worked so that was a relief!
