Oh, it would break the universe 🙂 Your thought was on point at the time - warning users about the consequences of deleting something that should not be touched. The Nexu plugin did a similar thing before Umbraco implemented it itself. But, even with Umbraco doing that for us now, we've still experienced people deleting stuff and totally ignoring warnings. The only solution to the "problem between chair and keyboard" was to prevent deletions for anyone - even admins.

Slightly belated reply, but I think we have most commonly found 'accidental' deletions actually comes from marketers misunderstanding how the scheduled unpublish feature works. Someone in the client's marketing team commonly seems to like to schedule an ad campaign to only go on their homepage for a limited time. So their approach to this is to set it to auto-publish the updated homepage at say 9am then auto-unpublish again at 5/6pm or midnight. Except auto unpublish is not just 'taking down that advert change' it's taking down the whole homepage and everything else beneath it. And as they set it to auto, they've usually gone home when it triggers and aren't around to see the impact and immediately republish it!

We have in Umbraco and our older sites publish and archive dates on blocks and encourage our editors to use them. I wish this was in core.

sounds like it should be a scheduled publish on a ad-campaign node... and the homepage consumes either for a partial section of the homepage, or the entire main content, replaced with the content set on that alternative ad-campaign node. (though we still have the same issues where editors forget and schedule on the consuming node, rather than the temporary node) 😉

We've had to make notifications that block unpublishing at root-level for that exact reason. Editors misunderstanding and suddenly the website is gone 😅

Just a small cute show-and-tell. I've done a pro bono website for a new Danish non-profit org that I think is important. Bleeding edge, as in everything hurts a little and it's running on Umbraco 14.3-rc 😅 Design-wise I've just adapted an MIT licensed template, but also struggled a bit with the fact that their main colors are red and white, which in a Danish context very quickly can get nationalistic connotations, so I've tried to soften it up with nice blue waves and tree-green buttons. Been using it to push the block grid a bit and have built the entire thing on 1 page type just called "standard page" that implements a grid that lets you do almost anything. Running with Knowit.Umbraco.InstantBlockPreview for previews in the backoffice https://in-de.dk/ https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/905057811682193429/1289116292183490570/image.png?ex=66f7a69a&is=66f6551a&hm=4292b74c5e0e16e6bfe663b87f1c5f4e8da7bb25cc0217d222c984118c3705fc&

Thought I would have another play with moving my test site to the latest Umbraco (I had previously given up as too many niggles etc.) Was pleasantly surprised, new install of latest 15, imported v14 with uSync, copied over some templates and apart from 1 small issue with block preview everything appears to be working 😄

I've been on the hunt for a CMS and I never really settled on anything. I built sites with Umbraco 7 (yeah, it's been that long) for a number of years, but I really disliked it coming from the WordPress space. Fast forward, everything I work on is .NET. I picked up 15 last week and started building this new site with Blazor for the frontend and it's been absolutely bliss. Modern dependency injection and the models builder have made all the difference.
